Hippo Insurance Services, commonly called just Hippo, was founded in 2015 and first started offering home insurance in 2017.
They are based in Palo Alto, California with their home insurance policies being available in 33 states and growing. Hippo’s insurance plans include dwelling insurance for homeowners, condo or unit owner insurance, and dwelling property insurance for landlords. They currently don’t offer home insurance coverage for any property used as a short-term rental. Renter insurance is also not available with Hippo.
The home insurance plans offered by Hippo include coverage for Personal Property, Loss of Use, Personal Liability, and Medical Payments. Plus 4x the traditional insurance coverage for computers and home office equipment.
